MDS South Carolina - Student Leader
Mennonite Disaster Service is a volunteer network of Anabaptist churches that responds in Christian love to those affected by disasters in Canada and the United States. While the main focus is on clean up, repair and rebuilding homes, this service touches lives and nurtures hope, faith and wholeness.
Grebel will be going on a road trip. 15 – 20 students will drive to Conway South Carolina to work with MDS. Conway a small city along Myrtle Beach that experienced considerable damage after being hit by Hurricane Florence. In the new year their will be opportunities to apply to be part of this group outside of a leadership role.
Deadline for leadership applications is November 8 2018
As a leader you will be responsible for the following:
Working with you co-leader/s and Rebekah on trip logistics (car rentals, snacks, maps, cell phone plans, budget building, finance tracking, bursary application writing etc.)
Advertise Service Trip to the Grebel community, answer questions, and encourage Grebelites to apply
In consultation with student services, choosing who will participate in the trip based on the applicant pool
Collecting information needed for volunteering with MDS from all participants
Organizing pre-departure activities and team building exercises
Acting as peer leaders during the trip itself
Compiling a debrief report of your leadership experience to hand down to next years leaders
Other responsibilities as needed
