Need to Know

Singing Component

  • Please come warmed-up and prepared to sing a brief song or an excerpt from a song (approximately 1 minute).

  • After singing your song/excerpt, there will be a brief range check, and then you will be asked to do a short ear test.

  • Please bring a copy of the sheet music - a piece from musical theatre is strongly preferred, but another genre could work if need be.  Feel free to sing a selection from Beauty and the Beast if you would like. Also, auditioners are required to provide their own accompaniment - bringing a recording would be easiest, but if you want to bring a human to accompany you (there is a piano available), that can work too.

  • Tip: This website has lots of practice and accompaniment tracks for you to use including selections from Beauty and the Beast!

 Monologue Component

  • Please come with a brief monologue prepared (approx. 1 minute long). You are expected to have your monologue memorized. Prepare a monologue which showcases your personality and abilities. Please ensure it is appropriate for Beauty and the Beast and character(s) you are interested in auditioning for.

  • Helpful tip: if you find yourself forgetting a line, don’t stop/freeze, just roll with it!

Please provide your class schedule for Winter 2019, including any other regularly scheduled commitments that could affect your availability. This will be a decent commitment for the Winter term. Cast members will be asked to be at three rehearsals a week, while orchestra members will have a minimum of one rehearsal a week, with more leading up to the performance.

If you have any questions about the stage audition, send them to grebelplay@gmail.com.
